Eagle RUFC Soars to Victory: A Thrilling Match Recap!

Eagles struggle for numbers at their last game away at Sandbach was a thing of the past! With 20 lads available, including our “ex-el captain” fresh out of excuses and ready to play, Coach Dan Cahill faced a delightful selection headache. After some deliberation, the 18-man squad was named late on Friday evening:

  • Kieran Thomas

  • Dan Cahill

  • Jack Bainczyk

  • Almer Savilla

  • Louis Mercer

  • Louie Angelo

  • Chris Broadfield

  • Dan Griffiths

  • Chris Holden

  • James Lloyd

  • Kyle Jones

  • Jack Gibson

  • Ian McLearney

  • Mark Phoenix

  • Craig Woolvine

  • Harry Files

  • Ashley Losh

Match Highlights

Both teams started strong! The first 20 minutes felt more like an arm wrestle than a game of rugby. But then, in spectacular fashion, Ashley Losh swan-dived over the line from just one metre out to open the scoring! What a moment!

The next 40 minutes were all Eagles! We racked up another five unanswered tries! The wind made conversions tricky, but we managed to get two over. The score was 34-0 with just 10 minutes to go!

After some sustained pressure from Aldwinians, our defence finally gave in. They managed to score a converted try, making the final score 34-7 in favour of the Eagles!

Every man on that pitch gave it their all! A special shoutout to Ashley Losh for charging down a ball with his face! Talk about commitment!

Ultimately, Jack Gibson, returning to the club after a spell at “Warrington Select,” was outstanding on the day! He secured the Man of the Match title by a considerable margin!

Final score: 34 - 7 to Eagle!
